Campaign Arcs

A feature of several 4E DM books I'm really digging is the "Campaign Arcs" with full campaign ideas for each tier. In my own Eberron campaign, I'm considering taking ideas from the mithril dragon/Wells of Prophecy campaign arc from Draconomicon 2 since I think it meshes well with the Draconic Prophecy theme in the setting. I mean, what nerfarious group in Eberron wouldn't want access to an artifact that allows them to manipulate the Prophecy? :devil:

I also like the campaign arc in DMG2 where the PCs are heirs to their own kingdoms. It reminds me of Birthright. I might have to save that one for my next campaign :)

Has anyone used these campaign arcs as a basis for their own campaign? How is it working out?

I love the campaign arcs; it's such a good way to lay out a campaign I'm planning to do it for my own game. They give a road map, but leave all the good stuff to DM improvisation and ingenuity. That's a fun way to present ideas.
 

I haven't used them yet, but also like them. I'm thinking to start running a game for my group this summer, and I'm probably going to take two (or maybe three) arcs and weave them together. Grab one each from, say, Underdark, Open Grave, and Dracominicon, and eventually enjoy the final fight with the elder wyrm vampire dragon and his legions of myocinid armies. ;)

I agree. I like how they present them for all three tiers as well. I wouldn't mind seeing more of this sort of article -- possibly with more bullet point options or related side ideas to help flesh an arc out (without making it a straight jacket).

This would make a much more gratifying Dragon article than taking up much space in a published book, IMO.
