[QUOTE="fba827, post: 4628812, member: 807"] Thanks for the feedback. I get nervous when I have campaign-length plot arcs because I worry whether or not they are as interesting as they sound in my head. :) (where as shorter arcs are less worrisome because I know I don't need to carry its momentum that long) Yeah, I have approximate expected levels for the triplets and others, but I am prepared to adjust up or down a few levels according to when they have their showdown. As an example, the brute-like brother I planned to have as a 10th level NPC/villian, but based on the fact that the PCs are close to fighting him head on I bumped him down to a notch since the PCs are currently level 3 (I forsee this showdown happening within the next 2-3 sessions... the PCs had just broken in to his base and stolen one of the relics so they've caught his attention). The manipulative brother I am planning to have as a 15th level-ish, but I am keeping in the wiggle room to push him +/-4 as needed. And so on. Yeah, one of the brothers is doing it with the thought that the relics (being powerful magic items that the RK used) will help him resurect/recover the RK (while other brothers and factions are recovering the relics for their own use). Consider this idea stolen! I had not even considered the effect an illusion of the red king would cause... the chaos and panic of the human kingdom (esp after all the hard work the govnt is doing to hide and cover any remaining hint of the RK so that the people can start to move on) I like it! While some of the aforementioned factions are more "active" than the others, yeah, it will be way too much going on if I add in more. I just wanted enough so that as the PCs 'passify' each faction there will still be other factions to cause some conflict. I always knew I wanted one of the brothers to ally with the Crimson Circle. My initial idea was for the third (neutral) brother to do so (the enemy of my enemy thing you mentioned later) but I am liking your idea of it being the second brother instead with the reason you suggested. Consider the idea stolen :) The third brother, at the moment, has no open allies. Though he did trick the PCs in to getting involved (mostly to cause a distraction for his brothers) so in an indirect way the PCs are working for him though they don't know it. I was certain to make them triplets because it allowed a more plausible explaination as to how the father (the RK) was contacting them all with the exact same dream. In my mind, he's really just reaching out to his favorite son but the triplet bond thing is what lets the other two see the dreams as well. The imp I figure he's just there as a wild card. He's not after the relics, after all, he did what he was bidden to do in finding them for the red king. Now he's just hanging out causing mischief on the prime material plane. I think (but haven't decided) that maybe he hangs out with the consort as a 'side kick' for lack of better description.
