Buffy the Steampunk Slayer! Well, this has been temporarily delayed by my wife getting and running the actual Buffy RPG (first game tomorrow!) and my acquisition of Mutants & Masterminds, but I hope to have it ready soon. In BtSS, Charles Babbage made a deal with the devil (which he actually attempted to do, I never knew history could actually be interesting), ushering in the Steam Age, the Industrial Revolution, and the Information Revolution all at once! Now the world is powred by steam. Difference Engines (computers, sort of) communicate over the Enginet, a vast steam-powered communications network. A lot of advances in technology over the last hundreds years have been seriously delayed as steam and Babbages inventions are adequately meeting the needs of the world. Now add in the mythology of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Demons, vampires, the Slayer...and what was the terrible cost of Babbages' philanthropy? I'd eventually like to expand this setting to include Martian Crusade, a steam-powered version of Mecha Crusade. In this setting, Britain has taken to colinizing the moon and nearby planets, allowing America to gain its' independance without any bloodshed. When the strong allies America and Britain try to jointly colonise Mars, they find HG Wells' aliens waiting to defend thier home, and invade the Earth! It's Martian tripods vs steam powered mechs, with a good possibility of Burroughs' green martians making an appearance as well. (shamelessly inspired by recent issues of League of Extraordinary Gentlemen) Of course, this all assumes I get a break from my current Star Wars campaign. What a nice dilemma to face! ;)
