That's the regular clergy's (or other divine character's) way of gaining access to the secrets of greater power. That means either a die roll against a (low) chance of success that would have the same probability for any non-divine character or GM fiat. And I lean in the direction of GM fiat. Is it right for the situation - then say yes. If not, say no. And above all, I'd say it should be rare - perhaps even extremely so. After all, if the player wanted to pray to heal characters or all the random villagers he can find, he could have made his PC a cleric (he still can via multiclassing).</blockquote>
