"Can Clerics Become Liches?

Wolfspirit

First Post
Sigh, that's one of the first questions my roomate asked me as I was walking them through the process of making new characters (they guilt tripped me into DMing for them).

This is going to be an interesting game.

what level are they gonna be?

a lich is apowerful thing- and not any personcan be one...

But to answer the question- a lich can be anything.

In the back of MoF, there is a template for good liches, and how to create them, and why...

basically the same as bad liches, but for difefrent purposes.

Bad liches do it to themselves to gain immortality. Good ones have it done to them to become immortal protectors...

If he wants to become a lich, he has to go trhough a process of death. And at the exact moment of death, if teh ritual is performed right, he will awaken as a lic. if not- he is dead forever...

is that what he really wants?
:D

Why not? Once your 65, 70... your not gonna loose much if the ritual fails, and you have a decent shot if you've done your homework...

from the SRD and Monster Manual

The Lich’s Phylactery

An integral part of becoming a lich is creating a magic phylactery in which to store its life force. Unless the phylactery is located and destroyed, the lich reappears 1d10 days after its apparent death.

Each lich must make its own phylactery, which requires the Craft Wondrous Item feat. The character must be a sorcerer, wizard, or cleric of at least 11th level. The phylactery costs 120,000 gp and 4,800 XP to create and has a caster level equal to that of its creator at the time of creation.

So yes he can

Did I mention that I was starting a level 2 game?

Well, I'm now DMing a Aasimar Cleric and a Dwarven Psion (20 con).

I think that Piratecat is going to have a munchkin treatment applied to Of Sound Mind :)
