Can the tomb of a good creature be inhabited by evil undead?

Simple question. Often wondered about it.

I've often wondered how the coffin of a good king could contian a wight, spectre, or whatever.

I am assuming that the tomb hasn't been broken into, defaced, pillaged, or whatever.

A curse?

He was popularly thought to be "good" but wasn't really?

A malevolent spirit (maybe that of someone he defeated in life) is animating the good king's corpse?

OK, that's simple enough

I guess what I was really getting at is...

Is it possible that a sincerely good creature's tomb be inhabited by undead, or would it have to be explained by some evil intervention (other than the undead monster itself)?

evil in the hall of light

If there were wards and circles of protection from evil and maybe even specifically undead, the something would have to intervene for the undead to be present.
However, if these modes of magical protection were not inplace for whatever reason, then whats to stop your every day ghoul from attending the buffet?
In the case of royalty, these circles and wards would more than likely be in place. Especially if the death is recent, and there were no extenuating factors involved.( like a necromancer dispelling the wards, or a natural event like an earthquake breaking the circles.)

Not to mention that if a good person is slain by a ghoul, they still rise as a ghoul.

The horror of the undead affects good and evil alike...

The tomb is so old that the wards and protections set up to protect the dead have degraded and dead have risen.

The undead were volunteers who chose to enter undeath to better watch over their dead liege.

Something that has happened since the good king's death has caused his spirit to rise in outrage, or seeking vengeance. For example, his family line has been destroyed by the treason of a close friend.

I always assumed that Undead by definition required some kind of intervention - ie dead kings don't just rise up for no reason.

That reason could be anything imaginable and allows you to customise your undead - eg a good Wright with an Icy touch

Going out a little on a limb here, maybe the person was so good, the balancing force of the universe (if there is one in your campaign) injected some negative energy into the area to level things out a bit.

Of course, the easiest way to do it is that somebody who didn't like him or wants something in the tomb sent a bunch of undead there.
