can you cast spells while inside a Prismatic Sphere?

If I cast Prismatic Sphere can I cast spells while inside. For instance, if a 20th level wizard casts prismatic Sphere, can I then cast Fireball at an enemy outside of the sphere?

Let's read the text of the spell:

From the SRD:

Prismatic Sphere
Abjuration
Level: Protection 9, Sor/Wiz 9, Sun 9
Components: V
Range: 10 ft.
Effect: 10-ft.-radius sphere centered on you

This spell functions like prismatic wall, except you conjure up an immobile, opaque globe of shimmering, multicolored light that surrounds you and protects you from all forms of attack. The sphere flashes in all colors of the visible spectrum.

The sphere’s blindness effect on creatures with less than 8 HD lasts 2d4x10 minutes.
You can pass into and out of the prismatic sphere and remain near it without harm. However, when you’re inside it, the sphere blocks any attempt to project something through the sphere (including spells). Other creatures that attempt to attack you or pass through
suffer the effects of each color, one at a time.

Typically, only the upper hemisphere of the globe will exist, since you are at the center of the sphere, so the lower half is usually excluded by the floor surface you are standing on.
The colors of the sphere have the same effects as the colors of a prismatic wall.
Prismatic sphere can be made permanent with a permanency spell.

Notice the text about not casting spells through the spere is a follow on from the sentence describing "you" actions (i.e., the caster).

So the answer is no, not spells that pass through. Spells that don't cross the barrier are another mater.

The short answer is no; the longer answer is you momentarily step outside the sphere to cast your spell. You'll need your spell to be quickened so you can move out and back in in the same round.

Note though, that you can cast spells within the sphere; they just can't transit the sphere.

BTW if your PCs make a habit of breaking down doors, a Prismatic Wall inside the door is just plain nasty. :)

This is why you create an epic spell (just had to bring that up, didn't I?) that allows you to cast your other spells through the sphere.

Not sure if anyone has updated the 2nd edition Barrier Reaver spell, but that effectively created a hole in the sphere that you could cast though - it would bring up facing issues however.

All you need is the Mobile Spellcasting feat from Complete Adventurer, and then you can turn into everyone's worst (and nearly unstoppable) nightmare. It let’s you move, cast, and then move again.

For one round, until your opponents ready actions to beat the snot out of you when you pop out of the sphere.

OK, so the general consensus is that no spells can pass through a Prismatic Sphere. If that's the case, when what is the real benefit of this spell? It just seems like if an enemy knows that I just cast it, they can just wait me out since I really cant do anything while I'm in there. Is there something I'm not seeing?
