Message: <blockquote data-quote="AIM-54" data-source="post: 2672155" data-attributes="member: 15633">I can confirm that high school football in Canada certainly exists, but at a much lower level of interest (and skill).  I had a couple friends on the team, so I went to a few games.  The varsity teams all played at the one high school football stadium in the city (Gordie Howe Bowl...why it's named for him, I'll never know).  I don't know that there were ever more than 200 people at any of the games I went to.  It gets some coverage in the local paper, but the only main thing was the provincial championship.The Prairie Junior Football Conference seems to be the regional big football thing (prior to college) and the Hilltoppers get plenty of coverage.College football is a pretty big deal, at least in SK and when the UoS won the Vanier Cup a few years back (haven't followed them really since I came back to the states in 99) it was a pretty big deal.  Though nothing like college ball here in the states.The big sports at my school, though, were volleyball and basketball.  There weren't really a lot offered and most serious athletes were involved in sports outside of school.  Hockey especially seemed to be in a separate universe, where the kids play on the community teams and the top players go into the SJHL or CHL.  That and I think hockey was probably way too expensive for public schools to afford.</blockquote>
