The Darrington Press roleplaying game Candela Obscura is getting a new adventure book, courtesy of Beadle and Grimm's. Horrors of the Fairelands is a new 216-page book featuring eight assignments within the world of Candela Obscura. Beadle & Grimm will release a standalone edition of the book along with a premium edition that contains the book, region maps, a GM screen, props, art cards, and handouts. The Premium Edition will have a limited print run and will be released in February 2025, with pre-orders available now. The standalone book will go on sale in February once inventory arrives. Originally released last year, Candela Obscura is a horror-themed RPG that uses a Blades in the Dark/Powered by the Apocalypse-derived system. Players take on the roles of investigators for the Candela Obscura organization, working to contain mysterious phenomenon from the Bleed and preventing them from crossing over into our world. The game draws heavily from cosmic horror elements, but avoids the usual insanity/madness mechanics in favor of life-changing traumas. Critical Role produced a monthly show featuring Candela Obscura for a year, but it struggled to find an audience and has not returned after a summer hiatus. Per the press release, Horrors of the Fairelands was produced by Beadle & Grimm's "under an arrangement" with Darrington Press. No design team has been announced.
