I'm Fighter 2/FS 8. It hurts being a few spell levels down, but the spell compendium gives you access to spells that really make a difference. I love the vigor spells. Best out of combat, but during combat it can guarantee a person that goes down doesn't bleed out if we can't get to them. Mass Lesser vigor on 4 people and I heal (with the improved healing) 7pts in the first round and 1/round for the next 17 rounds. That's 96pts of healing (24x4 people). As I mentioned before, close wounds is a life saver. Once you hit 4th level spells, I recommend lesser holy transformation if you already have a strength boosting item/bulls strength going. Since they are holy bonuses. Plus you get dark vision and flight. I think a lot of the healing power comes from the spontaneous casting. I've been in a few fights where I've started burning 3rd level spell slots to cast my 2nd level close wounds. I have a belt of giant strength +4 so when I got access to 4th level spells I went with lesser divine transformation (SC) over divine power (PHB). Divine power will increase your BAB a couple of points, but the flight, dark vision, change to type outsider and bonus to fort saves is more effective to me. I would recommend a human paragon 3/favored soul X. You get the two free feats and the +2 to any ability really helps overcome the MAD the favored soul suffers from. Granted you don’t get the heavy armor proficiency with that. But medium armor isn’t too far behind. But, if you are going to be a healer/self buffer, then you really don't need to worry about upping your save DC's so that helps. You'll effectively be two levels behind the cleric in what spells you have access to and one level behind in casting power. But the bonus skill points, feats and ability score boost really makes up for it. If you do want the cleric route, then I would recommend maximize spell, divine metamagic (maximize spell) and extra turning. This will let you really pump out the healing during those critical moments. If it was me, I would probably still take 3 levels in human paragon for the +2 to a stat, extra feat and extra skill points. Starting with a 16 wisdom, you could have a 20 by level 8 before any magic was applied.
