Castle of the Mad Archmage Sale and Contest

BRW Games is having a sale on several items. All of which when you buy them enters you into a contest for a hard copy of what you buy.

I've already purchased the Castle of the Mad Archmage but not the expansion.

My main interest here is the Castle of the Mad Archmage. It's a sort of version of Castle Greyhawk by a gentleman who worked with Gary Gygax on the Castle Zagyg project just before his passing. When the publishers lost their license they couldn't finish it. Joseph Bloch has published his Mad Archmage Castle. I've been so busy I haven't had a chance to read it or run it so here is Merric's review of it from when the 5e starter box hadn't even made it to Australia yet.

And a blog entry by Joseph Bloch himself about the project

And here is a... ah... different look at it. Old school, using GURPS! Note that spoilers seem to abound but they certainly had fun with it.

They aren't terrible products, but my problem is they are basically fan fiction purporting to be the real deal, when they are completely not. It's not Greyhawk, it's some random fan's idea of what Greyhawk might be like. His retro-clone isn't what EGG would have done (demonstrably so in some places, like EGG saying if he had a chance to do it again, he wouldn't have the strength limits for female characters and indeed, they weren't in the 1e Oriental Adventures book, which he didn't write, but did put his name on)

Sell your game (and products) on their own merits, not by claiming some dubious relationship to Gary Gygax

It wasn't a dubious relationship. Do your research before you make such claims. He was working directly with Gary at the end.
