Prixo moves backward five feet, giving himself enough room to clear the red-striped spiders and get a full draw on his longbow. Though his first arrow misses the spider in P9 very badly and goes wildly astray through the open window of a nearby shop front, causing a resounding crash to spray forth from inside the store, Prixo's other three arrows each find their mark. His reflexes quick and on the money, Prixo shoots one arrow through each of the spiders in P8, R7, and P10, dealing 20 points of damage, then 16 points of damage, then 16 points of damage respectively. These three red-striped spiders spasm a time or two then keel over in place. The first spider in P9 that Prixo missed remains standing. Zarra crawls out from underneath the merchant stall in H11 and darts across the byway, stowing herself underneath the stall nearly opposite (J8). From her crouch under the market stall, which by the smell of it must be offering perfumed oil that is cloying sweet to the nose, Zarra's rapier remains at the ready, its metal point skittering on the bare stone byway. Alex quickly moves foward to the only open space near the spiders (N10), directly behind K'yorl. Lashing at the red-striped spider in P9 with his silvered spiked chain, dealing 16 points of damage. One of the spider's sections of upper thorax gets caught on a barb of Alex's length of chain and rips free of the carapace to leave an oozing open wound through which green ichor drips. The spider drops motionless to the byway floor. Drider 2 moves five feet diagonally away from the maelstrom of blows being rained upon it by both Hael and Lyssa and casts a spell directly at Hael. Lyssa, still in range of the Drider, takes advantage of the opportunity presented and whirls her longsword at the bugman, striking the creature and dealing 8 points of damage and 1 point of electrical damage. The noise of so many fleeing customers in the market drowns out the spell's verbal compenentry and prevents either K'yorl or Ardyth from recognizing the spell before it is cast. Just as Lyssa's longsword flashes with brilliant white energy, Hael, however, soon finds himself on the receiving end of a much larger blast of lightening similar in color. Drider 2 quickly sucks in a breath of air and re-focuses on Hael. Relying more on his innate ability to resist magical effects than any particular quickness of feet, Hael narrowly manages to skirt to the side to avoid the full brunt of the searing white blast and takes 10 points of damage. Enraged, Hael moves in five feet to V3 and whirls his battleaxe. The first blow solidly connects, dealing 12 points of damage. The second blow does little other than glance off Drider 2's exoskeleton. Seeking to end the spider threat on the ground early, Ardyth centers a fireball on T9 that incinerates the remaining four red-striped spiders on the byway floor. The spiders in S8, T9, U11, and V10 all drop as one, their husks charred and smoking. Lyssa, summoning all the available strength in her small form, weaves her longsword in a deadly pattern before bringing the blade to bear on Drider 2. As the edge of her longsword crackles with electrical energy, Lyssa scores a blow that perfectly matches her considerable might with a great deal of precision. The hit, which deals 22 points of damage to Drider 2, cleaves the drider neatly into two halves which then topple from the cavern sidewall onto the shop roofs 15 feet below. The two red-striped spiders clinging to the cavern sidewall nearest Hael move in to bite at the duergar. The first spider is too eager and snaps at Hael but misses wide, nearly causing the small-sized spider to lose its purchase on the wall. The spider in T3, however, bites Hael on his lower right leg, dealing 1 point of damage. The wound immediately begins to burn and Hael notes that the flesh in that area feels hot and pinched. The third spider clinging to the wall in S3 skitters from side to side, obviously looking for a way to get in at Hael and Lyssa, then skuttles to V2 to be nearer the drider. K'yorl and Blite should please re-declare their action for this round.
