Granting Detect Thoughts as a spell-like ability is not very useful.   Psionics allows one more freedom even than spontaneous casting and Detect Thougths would invariably be on their Powers list.  Instead of granting X number of uses per day, make Detect Thoughts a 0-level spell that they get for free.I think this is a very good idea.  I think making the class Psionic allows you to take in an unusual and interesting direction which you have not explored as much as you should.  More unique special abilities would help the class stand our from the Paladin and the Psi-Warrior and justify a new core class.</blockquote>
