Rumor has it that Stephen Brust, author of the _fantastic_ Vlad Taltos series (among others) is a gamer. The Vlad books read like a game focused on an evil party (at least at first)... there are necromancers, assassins, etc... evil artifacts, all kinds of good stuff.

Oh, and it's a great read on how a society with common resurrection might evolve. ("Revivification" is what they call it in the books.)

Just listen to the album 2001. They have to be gamers. Normal musicians just don't write songs like that.

Yeah I guess I aien't the HUGE Rush fan I used to be. A little ashamed of myself really......

Still, anyone hear a band called Blind Guardian? Now I don't know if they play RPGs, good chance that they do though, but they have more LOTR content in their songs than the LOTR soundtrack does. Blind Guardian is definetely one of those 'gamer's guilty pleasure bands.'

There are a number of other bands in the power metal genre with strong fantasy themes, such as Rhapsody - check out the cover art! They pose with swords! The booklets include little maps of the world their music is set in!
