First Post
Game Keeper at University Towne Center in San Diego, California has ALL of its stock of chainmail on sale for 50% off.

This is a great way to get into the game or get those extra minatures you wanted at a great savings!

Is it a true sale or is it an inventory clearance? My local store is trying to get rid of all their chainmail stuff and hasn't ordered any of the new figs.

At 50% off? It's inventory clearance.

(Which is just as true a sale as anything else is, mind you.)

Based on the reports I've heard, Chainmail has been a hit or miss thing for retailers. Some retailers have done very well with it, but it's died on a lot of shelves.

I don't know the managers at any Game Keepers, but I've heard a lot of reports of them doing clearance sales on Chainmail inventory. As far as I can tell, it died in most of those stores.

As for us, it pretty much died here. We sell a couple of each individual fig to fans as it comes out, but we never managed to sell a copy of the rules to anyone and almost nobody plays the game around here. Some of that's our fault -- we had massive problems getting the game on its initial release -- and some of it (IMHO) is because Wizards had no real chance of national success competing directly with GW.

yours,

That's what I was trying to figure out. If it was a sale to generate interest in the game or to just dump their stock. Is this a large scale occurence or just spotty.

How many people out their know of stores that are dumping thier chainmail stuff?

This is just from my personal experience from the two stores in Milwaukee, Wisconsin that I shop at:

-Neither of the stores is 'dumping' their inventories via discounts or price reductions.

-Neither of the stores, however, seem to get in the newest figures. Makes me wonder if they are refusing to buy new stock until they come close to selling out of old stock.

It seemed to me that at first the game was somewhat well received, but now I see a lot of minis on the shelves.

I personally don't play the game, but I buy some of the figs when they are appealing enough to me to use them in a regular 3e D&D game.

I really hope Chainmail doesn't flop. I like the rules and the miniatures. And I'd hate for support to go away for them. I've even converted the rules for large scale battles.

I really hope Warhammer does flop. I hate Warhammer.

I want the very few hours spent playing that god-awful game back.

Viva Chainmail!!!
