Reading through the CrystalKeep PDF of templates I see

Chameleon Template (Und p.83)

Type becomes (Reptilian)
+10 racial bonus on Hide
+4 racial bonus on Move Silently
Tounge attack 10-ft reach
Climb speed=1/2 of normal speed

It has NO level adjustment listed. I am thinking this should have one, although I don't own the book to read the actual text accompanied with it. Was this left out or is there some reason a PC can't/shouldn't be a chameleon?

Because availability of templates is solely up to the DM, and they'd be a fool to allow this one?

Just put it on the pile with Feral and Mineral Warrior, under the sign "Not for PC Consumption".

Level Adjustment is listed in Underdark as +1. The Hide bonus is extremely high, and I guess I'd rule that it drops the more clothing and/or armor the characters wears (good luck using your chameleon skin in full plate).

Thanks folks...I will pass that along to the player who was asking. Mods based on amount of clothing is a spot-on good DM call.

From what I've experienced most people really use this just for the 1oft reach of the tongue attack or to gain the reptilian subtype
