hello everyone, well, to my two cents into this post, heres what i do for the elves of my world. Tolkien created the common-day concept of elves being basically human-sized, very "magical" (Tolkien repreated had the elves say that the elves were not working magic, it was just another skill to them) and skilled people. Besides that, i go for accessibility, meaning i have Sea Elves (which Tolkien only had sea-side elves, not ones which lives under the sea) i have black-skinned dark elves (though i dont call them drow, Tolkiens dark elves were just "rebels" which constitutued every elf which lived on midlle-earth and didnt cross the sea), i have wood elves (the most common adventuring ones, ie Legolas), high elves (ones that stay in their homeland, ones that went accross the sea in middle-earth) and half-elves (much more common than in Tolkiens world, ie Elrond). These distinct varieties are basically dumbed-down versions of the numerous elves sub-groups. I do this for playability. now, after all that, heres my idea of elves. Elves have a long tradition of fighting, they can be killed, but only by un-natural reasons (fighting, sorcery), but they are physically weaken than humans, they are amazingly fast and light on their feet, have amazing sight, and hate orcs and dark elves. High Elf -1 Str, +2 Dex, -1 Con, +2 Wis, +2 Cha medium size base land speed +5 low-light vision keen vision 3x as far as human Immunity to all diseases +2 Balance, Move Silently, Listen, Search, +4 Spot bonus profs: Shortbow, Long Bow and composite versions +1 Damage on Orcs, Goblins and Dark Elves >>>since this is obviously more powerful than standard races, elves have a racial level which they must take. This doesn't count towards exp penalties, but they must gain 1000 exp before taking their first class level. as for skills, i judicate it so that their first level in a class, they gain the standard x4 (a break to the standard ruels, but not a major balance issue) HD=d8 | +0 BAB | bad fort, good ref and will | skills 4+int mod class skills are balance, craft, diplomacy, knowledge, listen, move silently, perform, search, spot Favoured Class: Druid (if you wish to make them more like a standard elf, remove the +2 Wis, add in +2 Int, adn make favoured class Wizard) hope this helps, not sure if it wil, but good luck man
