But when under the RAW one could actually "build" characters - abilities, skills, feats, all of that - people really started to crunch and grind to get the exact character they wanted.That, not entirely coincidentally, was when I stopped buying new books and kept rolling along with 1E/2E. I found the skills & powers chargen process too complicated and untrue to the game I knew. So I stopped playing it. I'm ashamed to say I aired those grievances loudly on BBS and Usenet fora.
