Character Concepts!

Scribble

First Post
So I was reading the Monster Vault Death Knight entry the other day, and the part about some Death Knight's souls remaining in their sword tempting those who possess it or even possessing them started making me think about how to set an item like that loose on a campaign. :P

Then it made me think about making a character that was once a death knight now given a chance by the gods to redeem himself.

I want to make a Revanent Cavalier with the Virtue of Sacrifice, and an intelligent sword that represents part of his remaining evil soul attempting to re-assert itself over his will.

I think that would be a fun concept to play.

Anyone else have any concepts they're wanting to play at some point?

Anyone else have any concepts they're wanting to play at some point?

Let's see, at last count it was about 173, sadly though I'm almost always the DM. :(

The current one (though I've only gotten one session in our once a month game) is a dwarven runepriest who has essentially been lead into exile by the runes that keep popping up to him. They lead him away from the family smithing business, then away from the worship of Moradin (though into Bahamut), and finally away from his homeland to the "New World". All of this of course causing strains with his family/friends. The runes did though lead him to a Paladin of Bahamut searching for her lost brother so he does believe the runes still mean him good -- they're just taking their sweet time getting there.

I have to admit though that generally, I don't get too in depth in my character ideas (usually just starting with builds) since I so rarely get a chance to play. Back in the day I did play an elven samurai with a particularly keen hatred for gnolls but who was otherwise always on the moral high ground. The gnoll hatred coming from the deaths of his family and the family of his lord (who took him in when he was orphaned). That was another campaign that came to a premature end and I would very much love to revisit him someday.

I like off-kilter races and counterintuitive builds.

I've got a gnome assassin whose appearance is modeled after a Pierrot-style harlequin (all black and white sad clown), but whose personality is more bawdy and showy. He grew up in a graveyard, and is comfortable around corpses -- considers them props more than anything, to his allies' occasionally horror. His build is currently the fear-based assassin, because to him, the funniest thing is when people around him are terrified.

I've got a dwarf bard who is essentially modeled on message-based hiphop artists (more Talib Kweli, Pharcyde, and Tupac than 50 and Kanye). I've not got his voice quite right -- he's largely just cursing and rhyming right now, but since he's in a swamp with narry a political fight in sight, I suppose that's okay. :) He's my current character, since the party needs a leader.

I've got some essentials characters in the wings. A githyanki pyromancer that fled the Lich-Queen's wrath after accidentally burning up an entire community, and an orc knight once shown mercy who tries to reconcile nobility with savagery, are the two most likely. Though if the bard bites it, I'm likely to try my Mul Warpriest of the Sun who enjoys especially hunting and killing arcane-users, considering their magic corrupt and evil inherently.

I thought it would be fun to play a Changeling Bard who had a habit of taking on physical and personality characteristics of people she was often close to. When she talks to someone she would subconsciously use her shapechange to look a little more like them. And especially because of her time around the rest of the party she would take multiclass feats for their classes to show how she was becoming more like them through osmosis. To further illustrate this she would take the Chameleon PP and the Reincarnate Champion ED as she continued to take on more of her companions' class and racial traits, respectively.
