I'm writing a professional style adventure path called "Witches' Harvest". Not necessarily intending to publish, just want to craft an awesome adventure for my group.
The idea I have is to weave 8 character hooks into each adventure. So at the start of WH1: Calling Down the Moon, each player chooses a hook for their PC which may be referred to at various points throughout the adventure.
----------------------------------------------
Vale Witchguard
Character Hook: WH1-Calling Down the Moon
Native to the Vale, you were chosen by village elders to find the witch responsible for summoning the lake dragon. Your family has long been friends to witches, hiding them during witch-hunts past and helping them vanquish supernatural threats; witches have given you the honorary title “witchguard”. You are loathe to cause the witches harm, and would like to see the inquisitors driven out of the Vale forever.
Notes: Your lineage is Vale Folk, and you must be trained in Knowledge (witches). The base reaction of all witches in the Vale toward you is improved one step.
Personal Quest: Prevent harm from befalling the witches (+1). Aid the witches in hunting down or preventing threats to the Vale (+2). Prevent persecution or death of the witches despite great sacrifice (+3).
----------------------------------------------
Have you tried anything like this before? Any pitfalls to avoid?
