Awfully Cheerful Engine Character Progression

I am getting ready to run our group through the OG Ghostbusters RPG as a break from our usual campaigns. This of course reminded me of the Awfully Cheerful Engine and then lo and behold there is a Bundle Deal on the Omnibus going on right now! So I sent that to my players and got to work re-reading ACE to see what I might use in the upcoming game.

I noticed the change from Brownie Points to Karma points but then realized that character progression had been removed from the new Karma Point system. And a search of the ACE books shows there isn't actually a character progression system anywhere in it. It obviously looks like the system was setup to be used for one shots. Or did I totally miss something?

But what if we want some progression in between adventures. Has anyone tried using any sort of XP system to increase attributes? If so, what does anyone recommend trying?

Thanks.
