He'll be getting a d8 as well, but he wont get any class bonuses for his hit points. He's got the same ac. But he can't function properly in armor. His BAB is 6/8. He's tougher than a standard wizard, but he doesn't outshine the fighter. He's got 7 skill points per level. If he had been more 'wizardy' with scores of say, 10, 12, 16, 16, 14, 12; he'd have a wizard BAB, AC 6/8, and the same skill points.
