[QUOTE="Saeviomagy, post: 5586934, member: 5890"] The key thing I want from a ruleset is a set of rules that just work. To me this doesn't. It ends up with all kinds of situations that are going to make my job as a DM far harder than if I just did the whole thing as a matter of dm fiat. For me the only benefits to be gained from 0 level rules would be the following: * A slower learning curve. 0 level characters have no abilities whatsoever, so the player needs to learn nothing. Discovery of basic game mechanics (movement, basic attacks, your first power) is drip-fed. * Organic character building. Your skills, your first feat, your first power can be slowly built up and your stats built up at the same time so you get synergies without needing system mastery. Even better: get rid of class restrictions entirely and build up true hybrids. * A perceptual "grittyness" increase. Starting with no class, skills or hitpoints means that everyone will become familiar with the stunt rules, everyone will get a healthy respect for avoiding combat and everyone will appreciate basic equipment. If your rules require a totally different rule-set be learnt, create odd ongoing imbalances and still require people to choose stats and class on creation, they miss two out of three of these goals and at the same time make the game more complex.
