Charity Fundraiser - our own setting search!

Just throwing this idea out there.

How about if we all vote on the settings sent to me for the archive (assuming all those people agree), and Natural 20 Press publishes the winning setting as a PDF?

The proceeds could go to an [as yet unchosen] charity. We could make a big deal of it, lots of fanfare and publicity and potentially raise a whole mass of money for charity.

if we were to do this I imagine it would still be only fair for the author to still get a cut (say 20%?) but I wouldn't take a penny for Natural 20 Press, so that still leaves 80% for charity.

Excellent idea but I would suggest keeping all the money for charity. Of course you could give the 20% too the author and allow him the forgone honor of "also" donating his money to charity.

As far as which charity? Allow the winner to choose.

Quick question. How are you going to run a poll with 10,989 entries??

Awesome...when can you implement it...by the way, you do realize, you'll probably get 11,000 of these, don't you? :D ...Paladinwife

Beautiful idea. Just come up with a replacement for our capitalist society and I'll be glad to do it.

I don't mean to sound harsh, but as a freelance writer, there's no way I would ever develop an entire setting book for free. I'd gladly contribute essays and articles free of charge to a charity collection such as Swords Into Plowshares, but an entire book? Sorry. I need to eat too.

To be honest, I'm only expecting 100 or so at the most. If it starts to look like its going to be much more than that, then I'm going to have to find someone to code an emergency automated upload thingummajigger!

He's not asking for one-page proposals. he's asking for the WHOLE SETTING BOOK.

The response will be MUCH less.
