Well, I should be all set. I have all my character sheet printouts! Just to whet people's imagination, here's the list of the Superheroes in the Boston Beacons, my game in Slot One: 1. Ultimate. This top-notch athlete fights with two high-tech concussive frisbees. She's the leader of the Beacons, its heart and soul, and her mastery of the multi-use missiles is astounding. 2. Dogstar. This hyper-intelligent German Shepherd is Ultimate's best friend, and is responsible for designing and building most of the Beacons' special equipment. With superspeed, brains to spare, and a cybernetic collar, Dogstar is only defeated by tasks requiring opposable thumbs. 3. Gandalf. This young teenager has had his fondest wish come true: he can create magic, REAL magic, just by reciting mystic incantations! Of course, he can't use the same spell more than once, and he steals most of his "mystic words" from fantasy novels and Dr. Strange comic books, but only a true fantasy fan would know that. 4. Diva. This Boston Opera star is also the beloved Diva, darling of the Society Pages and gossip columnists. She's beautiful, famous, and can use her voice to split open concrete walls. What more does a girl need? 5. The Gray Streak. This little old lady is approaching her 80's, but a misdiagnosed HMO prescription has given her undreamed of speed. She's faster than sound, and if she now needs to run with a walker, well, it gives her something else to hit crooks with. 6. Manitou. Long Jack Pickering is a friendly Canadian ex-trucker. Unfortunately, he has a nature spirit named Manitou sharing his body, and Manitou is a 9' tall horned monstrosity that likes nothing more than tearing down the polluted debris of man's civilization, punishing those who would abuse nature. Don't get Long Jack mad... you won't like him when he's mad. 7. Revere. Revere is Boston's premiere superhero, stalwart defender of freedom and spokesman for the Revere Insurance Company, the firm that insures most of the buildings in Boston. According to the MAyor's office, Revere has been assigned to the Beacons to forge them into a world class superhero team. In truth, he's there to try and minimize propery damage and insurance claims. We'll pick PCs at the table; no reserving in advance!
