For your review... This is a prestige class made for Kingdoms of Kalamar but can be put into any game world. It is a druid or shaman prestige class. The Bear is the Neutral God of Nature. Some ideas borrowed/stolen from Animal Lord Prestige class. I wanted a full spell-casting prestige class with some nice abilities that were not over powering. Child of the Bear Flavor Text ((Still working on this)) Hit Dice: d8. Special: Follower of The Bear. Class Skills The Child of the Bear’s class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are Climb (Str), Concentration (Con), Craft (Int), Heal (Wis), Knowledge (nature) (Int), Knowledge (religion) (Int), Listen (Wis), Profession (Wis), Ride (Dex), Spellcraft (Int), Spot (Wis), Survival (Wis), Swim (Str). Skill points at Each Level: 4 + Int modifier. Level Special 1 Bear Friend 2 Bear Sense 3 Totem Form (1/day) 4 Bear Tongue 5 Bear Farspeech 6 Totem Form (2/day) 7 Bear’s Ally 8 Bear’s Peace 9 Totem Form (3/day) 10 Spirit of the Bear BAB and Saves as Druid Class Features All the following are class features of the Child of the Bear prestige class. Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Child of the Bear gains no proficiency with any weapon or armor. Spells per day: When a new Child of the Bear level is gained, the character gains new spells per day as if he had also gained a level in whatever spellcasting class he already had. He does not gain any other benefits. Bear Friend: The Child of the Bear gains the Wild Empathy ability when dealing with bears. If he already has the Wild Empathy ability from another class (such as Shaman), then the levels stack. The Child of the Bear also gains an Animal Companion that must be a bear. He can choose a Black bear at first level, a brown bear at 4th level, a polar bear at 7th level, or a Dire Bear at 9th level. This ability works the same as for a Druid’s Animal companion. If the Child of the Bear already has an Animal companion that is a bear, then he may add the Child of the Bear’s level to the class that grants the companion to determine its power. Bear Sense: At second level, the Child of the Bear can sense any bears within a radius of miles equal to his Child level squared. For example, a 6th level child could sense all bears within 36 miles. Totem Form: The Child of the Bear gains the Totem Form ability as per the Shaman. He must choose which type of bear (black, brown or polar) is his totem form. This ability differs from the Druid’s wildshape. If the Child already has Totem Form, then he can stack the number of times used. For example, a 6th Shaman/6th Level Child of the Bear could use Totem Form, 4 times a day. Bear Tongue: A Child of the Bear gains the ability to speak with all bears at will as though a speak with animals spell were in effect. The bears’ responses, of course, are limited by their intelligence and perceptions. Bear Farspeech: The Child’s ability to communicate grows such that he can converse telepathically with any bear that he can sense with his Bear Sense. Bear’s Ally: All bears summoned by the Child of the Bear gain a +4 enhancement bonus to strength and constitution. Bear’s Peace: The Child of the Bear’s bond with bears becomes so great that bears are automatically considered to be friendly. If a bear is being magically compelled to attack the Child, then it must a will save (DC 10 + ½ Child’s level, + Chr modifier) to be able to attack. Bears summoned by a spell must also make this check. If a Child of the Bear ever attacks a bear outside of self defense, loses this ability and all bears will attack him on sight until amends to The Bear can be made (DM’s call). Spirit of the Bear: The Child of the Bear can now become one with The Bear without taking the form of a bear. (Black: 1d6, Brown: 2d6, Polar: 2d6) Swim like a Bear: Gains a +4 to Swim checks, if the Totem Form is a Polar Bear then gains a swim speed of 30 ft. Only one ability may be used at a time.
