Children of Hurin

I saw this was recently released. I'm wondering if this is good. I've read the standard Tolkien - Silmarillion, the Hobbit, and LOTR. Is this worth reading as well?

I haven't gotten my copy yet, but from everything I hear the first chapter is really hard to get through but then things pick up after that and it's a pretty good story.
