This is a new base class my friend created for his campaign. The class is being used by the DM of the campaign to create interesting adversaries, but he hopes to make it theoretically balanced for PC's. Any of the idiosyncracies you can assume he's aware of (like, a base class with a racial restriction). Elven Sidestepper These elven wizards have managed to warp the typical arcane powers their race tends to research (arcane magic). This class cannot multiclass with any arcane class. If you take a prestige class that improves arcane spell-casting, instead you may increase your jaunt (and only jaunt) class ability. The ability to Jaunt is considered a 1st level arcane spell, and every additional 5 feet are considered a higher spell level (So Jaunt 20 is considered a 2nd level spell, Jaunt 25 a 3rd level spell, Jaunt 30 a 4th level spell, etc). HD: d6 Skills: 6+int skills Skill List: (bard skill list) Med BAB Good ref/will 1 Jaunt 15ft 2 Conjurative Fort +1 3 Jaunt 20, Sneak +1d6 4 5 Jaunt 25, Jaunt Swap 1/day 6 Evasion, Phase 7 Move-Action Jaunt, Dimension Door 1/day, Sneak Attack +2d6 8 9 Jaunt 30 10 Reach Through 1/day, Jaunt Swap 2/day 11 Jaunt 35, Conjurative Fort +2, Sneak Attack +3d6 12 Immediate Phase 13 Jaunt 40, Magic Barrier 14 Evasive Jaunt 15 Jaunt 45, Sneak Attack +4d6, Unlimited Jaunt Swap 16 17 Jaunt 50, Dimension Door 2/day 18 Phase/Jaunt, Reach Through 2/day 19 Swift Jaunt, Sneak Attack +5d6 20 Conjurative Fort +3, Greater Teleport at Will Jaunt (Su) [Teleportation]: This ability allows the Elven Sidestepper to step through space and appear somewhere else. At 1st level using this ability requires a Standard Action, at 7th it requires only a Move Action, and at 19th it can be used as a Swift Action. It can always be performed at will, as long as there is nothing preventing Teleportation magic from working. Conjurative Fortitude: Due to the arcane nature of the class, Elven Sidesteppers naturally improve their fortitude while researching their own form of magic. Sneak Attack: Exactly as the Rogue ability of the same name. It improves every 4 levels. Jaunt Swap (Su) [Teleportation]: An Elven Sidestepper can switch places with an ally as a standard action. The Elven sidestepper's ally must be within range of his jaunt ability for this to work. At 10th level he gains another use and at 15th level he can use it an unlimited number of times per day. Evasion: Exactly as the Rogue ability of the same name. Phase (Su): This ability allows an Elven Sidestepper to disappear for one round. In effect, he disappears completely. After using this ability, roll a 1d4 to determine how many rounds you must wait to use it again. At 12th level you can use this ability as an immediate action. Dimension Door (Su): As the spell, usable 1/day. Caster level is equal to Elven Sidestepper level. Reach Through (Su): This deadly power allows an Elven Sidestepper to create a window anywhere within range of his dimension door ability and attempt to grab something on the other side. Unattended items do not receive a saving throw, but attended items and creatures get a Will saving throw to resist. The DC is 10 + 1/2 the Elven Sidestepper's level + Charisma modifer. Magic Barrier (Ex): The Elven Sidestepper gains SR equal to 10 + his Elven Sidestepper level. Evasive Jaunt (Ex): When an Elven Sidestepper successfully uses his Evasion ability he may jaunt as an immediate action. Phase Jaunt (Su): After returning from a Phase, the Elven Sidestepper may return at any unoccupied location up to his Jaunt distance. Greater Teleport at Will (Su): At 20th level the Elven Sidestepper can Greater Teleport as a Full-Round Action at will. So far he is having a lot of fun with these guys as NPCs. They are currently using a bound demon to improve their abilities, allowing them to Reach Through an unlimited number of times per day, as well as improving their Jaunt ability by 20 feet. Thoughts?
