Chimera CR?

There seems to be some problems with the CR of the chimera. The MM says it's CR 7, but the chimeric template of MM2 uses CR 9 as the base minimum of chimeras, and says that the normal chimera could be made with that template, thus making it a CR 9. So what is a chimera? CR 7 or 9?

The template and the chimera itself do not add up, at least not currently. The Chimera as currently presented in the MM is CR 7, unless errata has changed it.

There is the possibility that the chimera in the revised monster manual will add up to a chimeric lion, however.
