If I'm not mistaken... you've complained about the 5E rules plenty of times over these last 10 years and think a lot of them stink. So why would you think that any variant rules they would put in the 5E24 DMG would be useful to you or any good? What's the point in wanting something you know you aren't going to like? And why should WotC waste their page count putting in rules the rest of you are only going to crap on, even though you claim you want them? Seems to me everyone should be thrilled that WotC isn't including things in the book that none of you would be happy with. After all... WotC included a whole bunch of variant rules in the 5E14 DMG that they felt changed the 5E game stylistically in the direction of the various previous editions, and almost everyone to a person said "NO! THAT'S NOT WHAT WE WANTED!!!" So do we honestly think people would jump head over heels for any new ones they put into 5E24? I certainly don't. They'd get crapped on just as much as things like the 5E Spelljammer, Planescape, and Ravenloft campaign setting books got crapped on when they got released, despite people clamoring for a decade that they were awaiting anxiously for them to get made.
