As I stated over at the WoTC boards, I'm not unopposed to changes in the Realms. I am mostly concerned with the Tyr/Helm/Tymora storyline and the general culling of deities. Personaly, I find the culling of deities unnecessary, but can easily ret-con changes I dislike. For instance, if Hoar is taken out in the changeover, whoops, never happened (and more than likely whoever killed him will be killed off in my Realms. Poetic Justice and all). The Tyr/Helm/Tymora storyline is more distressing because of the way the Deities themselves act, which is contradictory of the manner they have handled themselves in the past. Mr. Baker has posted in the thread that he has passed along our concerns regarding the Tyr/Helm/Sune storyline to the developers, and here's hoping such a major change can be fed to us in a more palatable way than what was presented in the GHoTR. My only other concern is the general question of how much can a setting change before a it becomes a new setting masquerading as the old setting. I don't have the answer to that question right now, but based on the changes presented I am a little worried. There seems to be quite a bit of drastic changes lined up or already enacted. I still plan on buying the 4.0 FRCG and plan to base my 4.0 FR purchases based on what I find inside. If this gnashing of the our collective teeth is mostly overblown, than I'll keep buying, if it becomes a new setting in my eyes, I may consider buying it should I like the setting, but I won't consider it the Realms either, despite it's label. That said, Mr. Baker has taken a rather large beating on the boards the past few weeks, alot of it over the top.
