City Guide

Tuerny

First Post
I am seeking to put together a guide to a city-state that is going to serve as the basis for the rest of my campaign. Any reccomendations as to what I should include in this guide?
Assume that the players are natives or have been in the area for a long time.
What I have so far is:

  • Description: Details the city's physical make-up and general layout
  • Important Sites: Details important sites within the bounds of the city.
  • Important People: The ruler, major nobles, leading priests and wizards, etc.
  • Major Orginizations: Orginizations that have an influence on the city.
  • Culture: Things that differentiate this city's culture from that of other locations in the region
  • Adventure Hooks: Well, hooks for the PCs to get involved in.
  • History: The city's history

Anything else that you can think to add?

Thank You,

I'd include laws and traditions. Things that are taboo. Taxes are important and tarriffs. General idea of other major places in relationship to the city.

Looks pretty thorough, I can't think of anything off-hand I would add to it. I trust that it'll be quite detailed, if the guide you sent to me is any indication. Speaking of which, I am going to get back to you on the matter; I'm just trying to give it the level of attention that it deserves. It's good stuff.

Yeah, let your players be kicka** and be rich. Also, let them have a level 7 Spirit as their Guardian Spirit. :D j/k Although, it would be nice to have such a powerful Guardian Spirit. hmmm...

Thanks for the input Crothian. I will make sure to include that.

Rune, I was wondering what had happened with that. ;) I decided not to e-mail you cause I did not want bother you. I am glad you are still reading it. :) I am actually in the middle of a huge revision of the setting to make it more readable and accesible. I am sure you have noticed my heavy use of alternative titles and names. I am going to cut that down a bit in order to ease useability.

Morpheus, you should be happy if your charachters horses do not run away from them ;)
