First, good names are hard to come by, because there's an aversion to freeing up names taken by defunct accounts. Second, there are people who apparently have nothing better to than go around acting as "name police", summarily stripping your characters of their names and replacing them with a "generic" label. This might happen because your character is too similar to that of a published character, or because your name otherwise violates their naming code, which has some pretty bizarre restrictions (like prohibiting names that refer to any part of the body). You won't be told why exactly, it'll just happen without warning. I had illusionist called "Mr. Trick" that was genericized thusly. I think that was actually my last straw.</blockquote>
