"City of Shadows" Victorian Age Cthulhu [On Hold]

Monster Zero

First Post
I have deceided to take the plunge and start a Call of Cthulhu d20 play by post game set in 1889 Victorian London. Well if there is any interest that is. Think Sherlock Holmes and Jack the Ripper with a Mythos bent. I have slots open for four players. You will build a 1st level Call of Cthulhu character using a 28 point characteristic build. Anyone interested? Any questions?

Hey I am a total Victorian nut so count me in! :D

Well, I'm trying to not join too many games, but I think I'll play too. It will give us a good excuse to buy the Cthulu book.

This is going to be Cthulu d20, right?

Come on! Somebody's gotta wanna do Victorian Cthulu! It'll be a blast and it is the best age! A melding of the old mystical age with the age of science. :)

I'ld love to but I don't have the CoC books. I'm in If I can get help... I'm good with D20 Modern and normal D&D, so I'll just need help with whatever the differences are between CoC and the 'other' d20 products.

We can all help each other out. I just got the coc d20 book and I'm just learning it myself.

I know incredible amounts of ridiculous facts about the Victorian age as that's one of my favorite periods in history so feel free to ask me anything you like.

Well, I really like learning new games. I played CoC once (not the D20 version) but that was back in the 2nd ed days, so I don't remember a lot of it. (Except that I was a comedian who always failed to make a nice joke, that was fun roleplaying) But I'm willing to play. I'll download the rules, I allready saw it on Kazaa.

Sanity checks!!!!

Nice to get some interest :D

Well, if you don't have the Call of Cthulhu d20 book. I can help you make your character if you wish. Just give me a idea or description of what your character is like.
For those who have the book, here are some changes and options I will be using.

1. Defense Bonus Variant on page 15.
2. Reloading Firearms, Firearm Malfunctions, and Dropped Firearms Variants on page 81.
3. I am adding a new feat called Talented to the general feats list. It gives you a +2 aptitude bonus to two related skills. While there are several feats like this already such as Acrobatic. This will allow a player to "build" a skill bonus feat that they want.
4. I am adding a Noblility feat. This feat gives the player a noble title. This gives the player a +2 to their income roll and +2 to any Diplomacy skill checks. The exact title needs to be approved by the GM.

As for profession templates, if there is a profession not in the book that you want. Just ask me and I will make it up for you.

The game will be set in 1888 London. This is the London of Sherlock Holmes and Jack the Ripper.

So far we have the following people interested in running in the game.

KitanaVorr
Krizzel
Jemal
Timothy

Game mechanics wise, I will make all dice rolls in response to players actions and will post the results. Combat will be fluid and I am not going to keep track of exact character locations like on a battle mat.

Any questions or comments?

Well, I'd like to play a Swedish noble visiting London. Maybe Kitana can chime in with what title he had, since she made the character up originally. I think it was the equivalent of an Earl, but don't quote me on that.

We just got the book yesterday, so I'll try to digest it today.
