NOTE: There aren't necessarily any spoilers for the adventure itself but some on the FRCS, mainly about drow in Cormanthor.

I got this module for christmas and am trying to get it running. Since I couldn't incorporate it in my current FR campaign, I've decided to start a new campaign just to run the adventure.

Just to make the game more interesting, the players and I have decided to run it for a drow party. I am a lazy DM, and like to avoid modifying too many things. In order to keep things as simple as possible, would it be a good idea to have the PCs be part of House Jaerle? They'll be close the Dordrien Crypts and none of them are really Lolth worshippers so none of the plots sensitive parts will be given away.

I was thinking of having them investigate the recent drow raids. The heads of the house could be worried about drow competition. CoSQ does mention Spiderkissers and other drow sometimes venture to the surface and that House Jaerle was a constant annoyance for the followers of the Spider Queen.

Is this a good idea?

sounds fine to me. i don't see any reason why you couldn't run the adventure with drow adventurers from the area. that's even one of the alternate suggestions in the adventure itself [albeit the idea presented is that the party is from another underdark city]. i'm currently running the adventure [the party's just at the end of the dordrien crypts section] and one of the characters is a surface drow bard 1/fighter 1/cleric 6 of eilistraee/sword dancer 1 from house jaerle in cormanthor. the justification for her involvement in the adventure is that the group has acquired a reputation as ruthless but effective mercenaries for hire by various petty nobles in the cormyr/dalelands area and that her knowledge of drow society and tactics might go far in aiding the success of the mission.
