City State of the Invincible Overlord. Anyone running it? What do you think?

Years ago when Judges Guild was the only alternative to TSR my brother picked up the original CSotIO. He lost it and about 7 years ago I went online and purchased another copy for him. Some of the best games I have ever played in were/are ones run by my brother in this city. Now JG, partnered with Necromancer, has published an updated version of this City Setting. I looked through the book and I liked some things especially the shops, taverns, et. al. have much more information and the societal levels are real handy to have. However, I have a few questions:

1. I didn't see a players map to the city, only a DMs copy. The orginal had both. Perhaps the copy I was looking at was missing the player's map. Should there be a player's map?

2. I hate to say it but the old pebble stock is much more endurable than the paper weight of the maps at the end of the book. How have you protected them from wear and tear? They are so thin and will easily wear out in no time.

3. What other advantages, if any, does the new have over the old? (Other than it has been converted to 3.5)

Anything else that you could add will be appreciated. I'm seriously thinking of getting this for my brother.

As the lead author of the revision I'll try to answer a few questions for you.
1. There is no player's map. Sorry, the production expenses for maps these days are very, very high. I think we were working on a downloadable player's map. I honestly can't remember if that has been done or not. I'll check into it. (Clearly, I already have copies of these things.)

2. The paper should, at least in theory, be more sturdy and durable than the old paper used in the original. Now, I can't make claims on the ink/printing process yet but I haven't had any problems.

3. Advantages, we did our best to include as much information as possible, going so far as to include a few things from Pegasus magazine (a JG magazine that had some CSIO information in it). A big advantage is that the revised book contains the adventure/dungeon locations from Wraith Overlord. This details some sewer locations as well as several dungeons in the city.

"Disadvantages" (ie. things we didn't include for cost or size reasons that you might miss from the original)
No Player's Map (I really will try to do something about that)
No maps for the "unkeyed dungeon" (the originals are available for free download from the Necromancer Games website)
No Sunstone Caverns/Thunderhold - just couldn't include this due to space constraints, this should be available for download soon if it isn't already.

If you have other questions please let us know.
Thanks,
Patrick

Apologies for the diversion... but THIS is why I love EN World. Authors responding to threads about their work! I love it!

OK, I'll calm down now.

Very good city. Lots of things going on in it, it is a complicted place that seems alive. I'm not planning on running it per say, but I am going to use it and many of the smaller plots to help make one of my own cities come more alive and be able to use the great detail they put in the book.

Hmmm, I'm pretty sure I did a long review of this. But anyway, one reason why its' better than the original is that this fleshed out some of the original details. Like an NPC or place would get one line in the original book, but in this, gets many 2-3.

It also includes stuff from another book, about the dungeons of the CSIO.
