The Cityographer Kickstarter project (short overview below) has reached its goal and announced a couple of stretch goals. But even better, every person who backs at the $45 level or higher (or upgrades an existing pledge) will help increase the total number of building icons built into Cityographer!

As of this moment there are 131 backers at the $45 level or higher, so we’ll have at least 131 building graphics (spanning all genres) built into Cityographer, even if you don’t buy any extra icon packs which specialize in specific genres. As the number of backers grows, the number of building graphics built in will grow. So if we have 150 backers at that level, we’ll have 150 built-in buildings. If we have 200 we’ll have 200 built-in buildings. Even if something strange happens and we get 500 backers then we’ll include 500 buildings.

The $45 level gets you a license to Cityographer when it is ready (expected in October) as well as an art/icon pack. You can pick from medieval fantasy, modern and far future icon packs. In addition, a second medieval fantasy icon pack is a stretch goal if the project makes $12,500 (it is mostly there) and a post apocalyptic/modern ruins icon pack if the project makes $15,000.

If you haven’t heard about Cityographer, here’s the quick summary

  • Random city generator and editor for role-playing games of multiple genres & systems.
  • Runs on Windows, Mac OSX and Linux.
  • It generates the map based on a few parameters you set (population, tech level, near a river, etc.) and it generates the map, which is fully editable–move/remove roads & buildings, etc.
  • Furthermore each building is detailed so you can click on it and get info on residents, a mini-floorplan, if it is a store see the staff, price list, etc.
  • Finally, it saves to XML and exports to HTML, probably PDF, and maybe Word.
  • Icon packs available which specialize in many 150+ graphics/buildings for a specific genre.

Less than 24 hours left in the Cityographer Kickstarter!

We've hit our first stretch goal (all goals were voted by backers at the time) which is for a second icon/art pack of medieval fantasy buildings and items.
Our second stretch goal is very likely. It is a post apocalyptic (a.k.a modern ruins) icon/art pack.
The third stretch goal is to make a PDF of building interior battlemats. I'd love to add it to the project!

Below is our latest sample, showing a denser city than in past samples.
