There have been a few new details determined about the project.

If you haven't seen the project mentioned before, here's the short summary: Random city generator and editor for role-playing games of multiple genres & systems. Runs on Windows, Mac OSX and Linux. It generates the map based on a few parameters you set (population, tech level, near a river, etc.) and it generates the map, which is fully editable--move/remove roads & buildings, etc. Further each building is detailed so you can click on it and get info on residents, a mini-floorplan, if it is a store see the staff, price list, etc. Finally, is saves to XML and exports to HTML, probably PDF, and maybe word.

What's new (both of these are detailed in the latest project update):
  • A sample of a store in 4 different genres: see the sample graphics on the linked page. Keith Curtis is doing great work on the graphics!
  • New backer levels: There's a new pledge level at $70 that gets you the core software and 3 icons packs. But you can also use it for any 4 products so you could get multiple copies of the core program for friends, or even use it to pick up copies of sister products Hexographer and Dungeonographer for large area and building interior/dungeon mapping respectively. There's also a pledge level that gets you the $70 level rewards plus config files customized for your favorite game system. (The software comes with config files for medieval fantasy, modern, far future and a slightly customized medieval fantasy configuration for edition neutral D&D.)

So if I back this at the $45 level, and since I already own the other two programs, I get to select two of the art packs? So I could get the medieval and Far Future packs, instead of just one?

Yep! And if people pick up Hex&Dungeonographer from the Hexographer or Dungeonographer sites before the end of pledging, they too will get an extra icon pack free. Or there is also a $70 reward level which lets you pick 4 products. So you can select Hex/Dungeon/Cityographer and an icon pack through Kickstarter if you don't have them. Or get Cityographer and 3 icon packs. Or even 4 copies of Cityographer to give to 3 friends and keep one for yourself.

I've got a second city street generation algorithm looking good. It creates a more randomly laid out city. (Still have lots of work to do: another algorithm, adding random rivers, a possible harbor, city walls, and a bunch more.) But hopefully everyone can see the potential!
Here's a sample (very zoomed out to show pretty much the whole thing), but one can see more on the linked page:
