I want to get an advantage here because they have weapons". As a DM, I'd say "Make an attack at Disadvantage please". If the player made it..."Your mug bursts open on the side of his face, causing ale and shards of hardened clay to cascade across his face [*rolls Con save*...fails]. The rake screams in pain and grabs at his face. You have Advantage next round as he's a bit dazed".</p><p></p><p> To me, that's the beauty of 5e.
