Thanks. And thank you for the lengthy and thorough thoughtful response. [What does YMMV mean again?] Just a couple of clarity things... RE: Warlocks being the At will magic class. I get what your saying, and from that perspective ("at will"=better familiarity) it doesn't make much sense. I was thinking more in the "at will"=cantrips or orisons...that is, "simple, not especially powerful magics." They have their "borrowed arcane energy" from their pact with their patron, totally with you there, and can zap stuff out, but none of it is particularly powerful or, necessarily, as diverse or utilitarian as a mage or sorcerer might be able to produce. \For "bigger" magic effects, they'd need to use their limited/per day "Favors" and/or "Boons" (sorry yo don't like the name ;) or, if you prefer, "Invocations" [Which I do not like for warlocks since for me "invocation" has a distinctly more clerical/religious flavor...you are invoking, that is "calling upon/out/down", from your power source...that doesn't strike me as something Warlocks do, but Clerics.] B'anyway, that's why I was thinking "at will" for warlocks. Minor lil' magical effects (though truth be told, what I've seen of the damage for Eldritch Blast strikes me as a biiiit overpowered.) RE: Fighting Styles/Manuevers... Ya know, I have no problem with this...Rangers and Paladins and Rogues get so many other different bells and whistles...this being strictly for Monks and Fighters works fine for me. RE: Herbalist/Potion/Poison Making... Oh. I think you misunderstand. I have no problem there being skills that anyone can take! I can imagine a character of just about any class that could use this. I'm just thinking that Rangers and Assassins should have this built in, as a default class ability. Rangers for herbalist healing, identifying poisons/poisonous plants, maybe being able to whip up a healing potion or anti-toxin. Assassins for poison (and possibly useful potions as well?) id, making and counteracting. True. Good point. RE: Spontaneous Casting Oh yeah. Totally agree. DEFinitely severely limited outside of the Sorcerer class. RE: Temp HP Which is fine with me. As noted several times, I would rather Barbarian and Warlord just exist through backgrounds and specialties anyway. Was just trying to include something for everyone. But as you say, even if they are classes all their own, this as a Class feature/separate mechanic is probably not really needed. RE: Tracking. Yep. Like the Herbalism above, offering it as a skill for others is not in question. Just saying I want the Ranger to have Tracking, automatically, written as a class feature into the default Ranger and be better at it than anyone else.
