Cleric Paragon questions

#1: My reading of the Cleric's Healer's Lore feature indicates that it does not apply to healing powers from paragon paths, even those that require the Cleric class (Warpriest's Battle Cry, for example). Is this correct?

#2: Speaking of Battle Cry, why on earth is it a weapon attack that uses the Wisdom modifier instead of the Strength modifier? Has there been any indication from Wizards whether this is the intent of this power or just a mistake?

I can't answer the first one, but as for this question--there are many attacks for several classes that use non-Strength modifiers on Weapon keyword powers. Swordmages use Intelligence, Bards use Charisma. Avengers use Wisdom too.

Right, but every single other Weapon attack for Clerics is a Strength attack. This is the source of my confusion. Is there a reason that this power deviates from the pattern set by every other use of a melee weapon within the Cleric class?

Hmm, I just looked up Battle Cry in the PHB, and it's Divine, Healing, Implement. However, in Compendium, it's Divine, Healing, Weapon. Perhaps it's Wisdom because it was initially conceived as an implement power?

I wonder if Compendium is correct about this.

There is official errata available at the WotC site that replaces the Implement keyword with the Weapon keyword. I suspect you're correct about it having been originally conceived as an Implement attack and then hastily changed over.

The fact that they looked at it once to correct it and didn't change the Wisdom to Strength would seem to support the current (errataed) text, but then the Warpriest path strongly encourages traditional Strength-based melee with Warpriest's Challenge and Battle Favor. I just don't understand the design behind making Battle Cry attack with Wisdom, and I'm hoping somebody can clue me in (maybe with something official stated by a designer or something).

The errata/updates for the PHB say that Battle Cry was revised July 2008 to say:

Battle Cry (Revision), Player’s Handbook, page 74
Replace the “Implement” keyword with the “Weapon” keyword.

Edit: ninjaed! :P

Regarding your first question, yeah, it looks like you miss out on that. Wizards have a similar issue with their implement masteries only applying to *wizard* powers, and hybrid characters with effects that apply only on attacks from a specific class (fighter, ranger, rogue, avenger) look like they would have that issue too. Something to think about while you build your character.
