For some reason...

All your chat are belong to us!

ok... now that that's out of the way...

Tonight's going to be great. I hope my fingers can keep up to the great flurry of questions. If anyone has questions about A Magical Medieval Society: Western Europe or about any world building question (fantasy world building that is, if you're doing Sci-fi world building I won't be able to help you with your methane based world:)) I'll be glad to try and answer your question.

And for extra incentive, we'll have a "stump the chump" (that's me) section at the beginning of the chat. The first three people who can "stump the chump" with questions I have no godly idea (even remotely) what a good answer could be will get a free copy of our newest product (coming out in a few days). It's called Party of One: Leda, a 240 page interactive novel. (fusangite, you don't count! so don't ask me any enclosure questions....:D)

Hope to see you there!

I won't be available for the chat... so here are the questions I would ask... :)

1. I've always drawn the map first... then filled in the details. I've seen others do it the opposite way where they fill in the details and draw the map later. What are the advantages/disadvantages to either approach?

2. I currently have the Old AD&D Worldbuilders Guidebook, jgbrowning's A Medieval Magical Society: Western Europe, and Gary Gygax's Worldbuilder. What other RPG related World Building resources are out there?

3. For jgbrowning... I know you're working on another AMMS book for Rome. Do you have plans for any others?

4. Due to my complete lack of artistic talent... I rarely use art as part of my world building process. I wonder how many people use art (their own or someone else's) to help create their worlds.

Thanks... That's all I have for now... :)

Well, I can answer that one before the chat...

We're doing reading now for A Magical Classical Society: Rome and also some reading for A Magical Barbaric Society: Land, Sea, Horse.

Both of these are long term projects (MMS:WE took over 9 months to create) and we have several other projects we're working on more intently right now, so you'll have to probably wait a year before the the next Magical Society book. Sorry for the wait, but these things are difficult to write.

Not to hijack this thread... but... :D

Will the Rome book also cover some aspects of Greek society?

And you definitely have me salivating for the Barbarian book... I don't care if I have to wait two years... that will be awesome!!!

To keep this post on track...
I would like to add to my previous Question 4... If you use art to add detail to your campaign world... where do you find the art?

Unfortunatly no. It will focus mainly on the concepts associated with large land empires (as opposed to sea empires like the brits). The greeks would be interesting however, city state/colonizing societies.

Cool. It will be awesome. Depending on our circumstances, the barbarian book may occur prior to the imperial book, so it may only be a year, we haven't solidified our concepts (nor release schedule) yet.
