Well... Frankly it wasn't as bad as I had expected---but neither what I had hoped for. In my opinion---RPGF is really the only thing worth talking about. The rest may be interesting---but RPGF is center stage---and the news was not great. No measurable progress, no screen shots, and no potential release date.
And I am mightily confused about their explanation about the GUI. It seems like they are saying the end users will be responsible for creating a lot of the GUI. Not what I was hoping for. If I wanted to do work, I would use PCGen and start learning how to code blasted datasets. I was hoping for a slick interface that seemlessly integrated a number of different functions (character/monster creator, encounter creator/tracker, treasure tracker, campaign manager). I know that those were each probably going to be their own components---but now I cannot see CMP going beyond a character creator----because without a predetermined GUI any incorporation of other functions would quickly turn into gobbledy-gook.
And unless CMP is able to produce RPGF before 4e---then I may have to make the transition to 4e and checkout the Digital Initiative (HORRORS!!!)
