Coat of Arms Visual Designer web-based software

I truly hope a bunch of y'all find this project useful and I'm trying to spread the word about the software.

I've been working up a coat of arms (visual) designer that is easy to use and runs on a web page. I think it has many different uses, some for heraldry experts and some for people with a casual interest.

For a game setting, you may want to create a coat of arms for the key nobles in the game or maybe for each government or for other key organizations. Players of knights or other noble characters may want to create that character's arms. Outside of gaming, you may want to create a personal coat of arms as an avatar for the forums or you want to recreate an ancestor's coat of arms.

If you are interested, take a look at the examples to see what's possible, then open the instructions in one tab/window and then open the software designer in another web browser window.

Please send me feedback (see the link on the website) or post constructive criticism or positive reviews here. Thanks! I'm planning on adding to it and making improvements every week or so for a while yet. I'll definitely be adding more creatures, symbols, and objects to include in a coat of arms.

I really like this overall, and can see myself getting sucked into it for hours. ;)

That said, there seems to be a problem with the button controls on the bottom. Specifically, the "move object up," "move object down," and "remove object" buttons didn't seem to be working for me.

Thanks for trying it out! I retested the buttons you mentioned and they worked fine for me. Did you have an object selected in the list of objects that is directly above those buttons? The buttons work with whatever is selected in that list.

Yeah I did. The odd thing is, the "Remove" button worked originally, but then it stopped, and the other two didn't work at all. It was weird. :erm:

Ah ok, I think I know what probably happened:

You probably had one object in the list selected, did an operation on it and then when you clicked another button, the list didn't have anything selected. You thought the list should have still had the same thing selected or if doing a remove then the next object in the list should have been selected by default.

Does that sound right?

I've known about this issue for a while, but I've had too many other things to work on--bigger bugs or needed features. (As I say on the website, I'm still considering it an "alpha" version.) I'll try to get it addressed in one of the next 2 weekly updates.

Alas, no. That is, I did make that mistake at first, but I figured it out. And it still wasn't forking for me, even after I selected another object. :(

I keep getting a "loading java applet failed" message; I'm using Firefox on a Mac. I'd really like to try out your software as I think I'd put it to good use. Am I doomed to failure?

I'd guess there may be two possible problems:
-Maybe there was a network hiccup when you were downloading the program. Simply try again.
-Although I am not requiring the most recent version of Java (I'm using one major revision back) try updating your computer's java version: http://www.java.com/getjava/
