[CoC] Game Master's Screen

Pelosan Emperor

First Post
I stopped by the local game store during my lunch break today and found that the D20 CoC Game Master's screen is available.

I haven't had a chance to look through the screen or the booklets in very much detail, but it generally looks OK. The main book includes a 1930's-era adventure, details on the Vanguard club, an official erratta for the rulebook, and conversion instructions.

Errata & Notes: Call of Cthulhu d20 RPG

Got the Gamemaster's Pack yesterday at GenCon. They copied almost word for word from our posted errata.
And the character record sheet is better but still sucks. The GM Screen isn't well done either.
I'll do a review of this product after I finish reading it. Probably in a week or so.

Peace and smiles :)

There are a couple of negative comments about it on RPG Net, too.

I was afraid of this. Chaosium is their own worst enemy sometimes. At least when it comes to d20 stuff.

So how are the conversion rules? Are they strictly classic CoC to d20 CoC, or are there D&D to d20 CoC rules as well? Do the conversion rules go in both directions? What about spells - can you convert spells from older CoC products to d20 CoC, or D&D spells to d20 CoC?

Also, are the conversion rules any good? Are they easy to use with minimal work?

I want to pick this up this weekend, mainly because I recently acquired an OOP copy of Cthulhu by Gaslight and I want to do some converting for a campaign I want to run in the Victorian era.

Thanks :)

BRP to d20

The conversion rules are ok. Just a little bit more expanded than what is in the WotC book. It shows the conversion of BRP to d20. Thats it.

No Spells. No D&D to CoC.

Now I feel even more justified in my rating.

Peace and smiles :)

Picked this up after work last night.

Yeah I saw that. I can totally understand not having d20 CoC to D&D and back conversions, but not including rules for converting BRP spells to d20 CoC was really a bad choice, or a bad oversight. Really bad. :(

What I do like:

* the bookmarks with page numbers for the d20 CoC hardcover - excellent idea
* the handouts - always something Chaosium does well
* the presentation - it is a sharp looking product, and I like the way the GM's screen is set up.

Haven't had time to read the adventure yet, but I am looking forward to that.

Anyhow, thanks Jaws for both the info and the errata you guys did at Monte's ;)

So, next up for d20 CoC - FFG's Nocturnum d20 CoC and Chaosium's dual stat Dunwich sourcebook. Looking forward to both.

The presentation is nice. And the set up for the GM screen is good, but I wish I could read it without having it next to my face.

I saw Nocturnum at GenCon. Good price for how big it is. I didn't give it a good look. I already spent my money elsewhere. Let me know how it is.

Peace and smiles :)

Jaws - I'm here in Milwaukee, too (assuming you're in Milw., Wisconsin, and not some other state), and I picked up Nocturnum at GenCon.

You could borrow my copy if you want to check it out before you buy it.
