Colossal Red Dragon ad/picture

Following a link from Merric's Minis page, I downloaded the new issue of Knowledge Arcana from the WotC site (http://wizo.wizards.com/ka/). The last page has a full-page ad for the CRD. (I tried to extract it to post here as an attachment, but I couldn't the attachment small enough in the five minutes I have...)

It's too nice-looking to just sit in the basement with my other minis. It might have to live on my mantle for a little while...

The sculpt does not grab me. looks too much like a gift resin statue on e finds at the mall. Don't care much for dragons that are sitting up.

The left claw's curling makes it look like the dragon has a limp wrist.

The red chest scales really don't do it for me. The tan in the drawing is way nicer.

You know, it's sad to think that if I actually bought that, I would want to repaint it...

Like blargney said, I don't like the red chest scales, and I don't really care for the red horns either. I would also add a little of that cool brindle striping that Lockwood did in his drawing. I don't mind the pose, it looks okay for a dragon that is in combat in a cave or something. I think the wings are pretty cool, though.

Overall, for the price they are asking, I'm gonna skip it and hope someone in my group buys it. The black dragon, on the other hand, looks really nice.

That is the one I will be buying!

I think that's an amazing dragon. When placed next to the smaller minis, it makes me wonder how a character could survive being stepped on. I think the result would be a lot like hitting a can of tomato soup with a sledge hammer.
