Combat Superiority question

First Post
I was playtesting an encounter I was designing last night, and I came across this situation:

Code:
F.
rr
.R
Let's say, F = fighter, r = giant rat, R = dire rat. The dire rat wants to move through its allies (the giant rats) to the empty space next to the fighter, my question is

  1. Does it provoke an OA when it leaves the "threatened square" currently occupied by either of the giant rats?
  2. If it does, what happens if the OA connects and the dire rat has to stop movement due to combat superiority? It obviously can't share a square with the giant rat so does the dire rat get "bounced back" into its original square?

Thanks!

Yeah, the general rule is if you can't occupy the square you're in at the end of your movement you go back to the square before that. I'm not sure its exactly spelled out in so many words (it may be, I'm lazy) but various 'trample' style powers and such pretty well indicates that is the preferred solution. Feel free to do what makes sense though in a specific situation.

Look up "Occupied Squares" in the compendium glossary, or possibly somewhere in the PHB.

1) Yes, it provoke an Opportunity Attack.
2) It returns to the last square unoccupied square it was in.

Cheers!
