and the rest of the story... First off let me dispel a few myths. The author known as RangerWickett…aka…Ryan Nock does not look like his ENWurld avatar, nor do the pics from the Ennies really do him justice. He has a very welcoming constant smile and firm handshake. A friendly get to know you guy. He is not hairy. His eyes give you a sense of the RW you read on the boards…inquisitive with a hint of mystery and a spark of the devious. Second, he is very verbose. And from the size of his…entourage..;) Charismatic. He is also very observant. He picked howandwhy99 and I out of the crowd without even looking for or asking for our dice. Plus he is polite to his elders and genuine. And finally from observing his style of attire and posture…laidback, but not slovenly so. A lady’s man really. In fact, I had the chance to see a young lady flirting for his attention. The event included 15 authors…RW was 12th on the list to read with about 50 people in the attendance. Each reader took 5 minutes on average. Before attending I had thought he would be doing a short story. In the few moments we had to chat while enjoying or not enjoying the ice cream he mentioned the Great Computer Crash of 2003. So…his first poem was a recollection of life in Texas. And before his second and final poem he prefaced a little…a poem of Dungeons & Dragons…one not to cause harm, but to have fun telling a story. Actually this had the hidden double meaning in a room full of storytellers/writers. There is a definite difference in a BS and a BA. So I can’t go too far into the mechanics of what I heard. But suffice it so say an enjoyable time was had by all. Although, I had to apologize to my 14000 dice afterwards for listening to such heresy.
