Ok...So the trailer for this looked awful but being the card-carrying geek that I am, I felt obligated.
I have 15,000+ comics and was born and raised on Star Wars.
So there was no way to avoid this one.

It arrived from Netflix on Saturday and I watched it last night.
UGH.
Whatever Hamill was trying to capture, he failed.
Weak story, lame characters, bad acting, no script, NO COMEDY and absolutely NONE of the charm and heart other fanboys have been claiming is in the movie.

I think part of the problem is his supposed attempt to not have the movie be "insulting" to comic book fans. I've seen some comments about the non-insulting tone that said Trekkies was an insulting documentary. But I've seen Trekkies, and anyone who was insulted by that needs to take a look in the mirror.

The other problem was instead of a full script and actors, we got professional voice-over actors ad-libbing scenes. These guys are literally the top of the line in voice acting, but now that the camera is on them, we can see why they don't get parts in front of a camera.

Even the cameos are botched. With the possible exception of the big three (Stan Lee, Kevin Smith, Hugh Hefner) the other cameos will mean nothing to all but the most hardcore of geeks. Even the interviews with those three seem to be forced into the movie. And the David Prowse/Peter Mayhew/Jeremy Bulloch scene is a complete bomb.

I listened to most of the commentary on this also, which is slightly funnier than the movie, and at least gave us a great joke about spike lee.

I only got the first disc so I don't know if he extras on disc 2 live up to the hype or are also just a waste of my time, but after seeing the disaster that this "movie" is, i don't think i'm rushing to get it.
