I'm typing this from far above the Atlantic, on my way home after Gen Con and assorted other fun US-based shenanigans. This news page should be returning to normal by Monday (Tuesday at the latest). From Gen Con, I still have some videos to post once they're edited, and you should expect to see them this week. These include the ENnies, a UK publishers impromptu mini-panel from the corner of the Gen Con exhibit hall, the cosplay/costume parade, and a general highlights/clips reel taken from the whole caboodle. We're also discussing the concept of more video coverage (this isn't instead of the written material and news here at EN World, it's in addition to) focusing on features. Over the last couple of years, we've experimented with a cartoon series, a music competition, convention coverage, interviews, a feature series about sexism in gaming and so on with varying success (you can find all that - over a hundred total videos - on my YouTube channel: just hit the "Videos" link at top-right of this page). Obviously we need a lot more experience and practice, but we'll learn by doing. We've had some kind comments, and some mean comments, but I'm sure we'll get better at this! It's also time to make a decision I mentioned a few weeks before Gen Con. We have a number of columnists and reviewers, and I need to decide which ones to continue with. This means that you may see some columns disappear soon, although others may take their place (as always, pitches are welcome). Gen Con was a blast. The best Gen Con ever for me. I picked up my copy of 13th Age, got to talk to amazing people like Monte Cook, Chris Pramas and many more, who I don't get to speak to nearly often enough, and the ENnies went perfectly - if you haven't seen the publisher karaoke portion, you're missing out! I also have a copy of Dragonspear Castle and I'm hoping my shiny copy of Numenera is waiting for me when I get home! Many thanks especially go to those who helped with the coverage -- my brother Darren, my friend Matt Freeman, and our patient spouses. I hope to have a larger team next time we do something like this, because there wasn't time to cover everything. Anyhow, that's me signing off from somewhere mid-Atlantic. Regular service will resume soon!
